I think it’s so sad how so many people including WOF employees such as Douglas Cummins dismiss a woman’s experience, pretty much say it’s a lie and turn the tables by saying that it’s people just attacking WOF and Bishop Barron when this is not what it’s about. It’s about compassion and learning from our mistakes. It’s about changing our idea of a Catholic man that’s so entangled with toxic masculinity. And a lot of it has to do with how we talk about sex and chastity within the faith.I am so tired of all the double standard and “boys will be boys”. Men need to be held accountable. And to all those Catholics that say that these article hurt WOF and Catholicism, it doesn’t! This is about reforming the Church! We can’t be making the same mistakes over and over again. The think everyone just needs to have more compassion.
This piece, Im sure you would admit, is drenched in “it feels like this is what Bishop meant by talking like this.” and “Let me interpret these actions based on this progressive ideology I’ll present to you”. “Here is how Bishop and his staff’s heart really feels for ____.”
It’s the same Type of arguments (ie: lies) that fundamentalists say about Catholics, such as “it really feels like you’re worshiping Mary.” “It really feels like based on your actions of honoring saints that you are praying to them like gods.” The same type of argument used against Christians from the beginning “it really feels like you’re saying cannibalism is okay with your doctrine on the Eucharist.”
This is your complete reportage. And this article represents the attacks we should come to expect in OUR time - the leftist activist reproaches that make assumptions and judgements of the hearts of people based on identity politics: “WoF need to have a quota of certain races and genders and sexual identities. WoF needs to pay incoming women more than budgeted for a NON PROFIT MINISTRY or else they’re misogynists.”
The feelings of my ex-staff members who felt the Word on Fire was bad, I’m sorry you felt that way. I don’t agree with you and your interpretations, but I respect your views and love you. Please don’t make it seem like your feelings were the truth, or how everyone felt. For Chris to not qualify that these views were in the extreme minority is just plain deception to influence the reader to buy his narrative. To my perspective as a low level worker, this alleged misogyny could all not be farther from the truth. The truth about what our culture is like is found in the way We pray together, have lunch together and talk about our families, we say the liturgy of the hours together, we hang out after work and have a margarita, we love and respect each other and we praise God openly at work, we pray for people that contact us needing prayers. We love people - and we have chosen to dedicate our lives to promoting the spiritual growth of our World. The culture at Word on Fire is NOT AT ALL what was described in this third article.
I understand 2 maybe 3 coworkers have felt different and I love and respect them. That’s fine. In any group of people there’s going to be varying perspectives. But please don’t tarnish our life’s work for the sake of promoting a lie that says this is “how it is” at Word on Fire. It is not true.
Sexual harassment and a hostile work environment in the workplace is not a “feeling” or identity politics. It’s literally illegal. If at least one employee feels that way, it’s enough. There doesn’t need to be a consensus.
In other words, this is my meal ticket ("life's work") so, only good press is valid and any bad press is "leftist"?
Truth is, we all saw this unfolding in Barron's own words, choice of bald faced, name dropping, self promotion and co-promoters.
The issue for those whom Barron chooses to denigrate as the "nones" is that his philosophically reconstituted wallpapering of the collection of inhumane nonsense that Roman Catholicism dogmatics has become doesn't work anymore.
Mandated bachelors and their "bros" can't mansplain their way out of the damage it has done.
Barron, quit pretending you're above the wisdom in Timothy 3. Get married, if you can. Be fruitful and multiply. Be a real parent and spouse. Then after that lesson in real manhood, maybe then you will have something of value to share - not just more obfuscating straw.
I remember that when I first started working, we always pestered a tall and handsome married man to ask him something about the shame between men and women, but he always didn't answer.Until one day on the night shift, he sucked his buttocks and said to me quietly, "Actually, women are the dirtiest!" I looked at him puzzled and saw the extreme disgust for women in his eyes...
Were Will Sipling’s “sexual improprieties” fully investigated yet and what was the conclusion of that investigation? (one of the four reasons he was terminated by WOF), and have criminal charges been filed against him with the appropriate authories?

I used to think Bishop Barron was really onto something. Now I think he's onto something bad.
he is onto his own promotion. Word on Fire is looking for followers of Barron and not followers of Christ
He is behaving like John Corapi, Thomas Euteneuer and other priests who courted popularity only to get dragged down by their own pride.

OK, the new "producer" Douglas Cummins is also a fruit cake but with less muscles and tattoos
